From The East….

May, 2025 Communication

Brethren,

The cold grip of Winter has finally loosened, and the warmth of Spring has arrived. During the month of April, Sharon Lodge was very active with our meetings and with our engagement in the local community. In our first regular meeting, W Bro. Mike Codori of Montgomery-Cornerstone Lodge #195 provided us with an informative and interesting presentation on Freemasonry during the Battle of Gettysburg. His talk was inspirational, and plans are already underway to caravan with Brothers, friends and family to theGettysburg battlefields for a visit in May. Our second meeting featured exposure to the appendant bodies of Masonry with presentations on the Tall Cedars and the Boumi Shrine from W Bro. Bruce Mulligan of Jeptha Lodge #212, W Bro. David Spangler of Harmony Lodge #53 and our own Sharon Brother, PM Daryl Gamerman. Our lodge was honored in that meeting to receive MWPGM Fred Spicer and three other Grand Line Officers seeking to advance their standing in the Grand Line.

Our own line officers were also active outside our regular meetings in coming to lodge to assist SW Andrew Macomber, II in preparing for his Entered Apprentice exemplification. It was great to see his success on April 9. Bro. Andrew is well on his way to the East. JD Russ Distler and SS Alberto Halphen joined me in the grilling of food for the fun Easter Party hosted for children by the Hannah More Family Shelter on April 17. PM Daryl Gamerman and I also chose two students from Owings Mills High School in April to receive college scholarships from Sharon Lodge. Brothers Bob Rascovar and Garrett Lee deserve our thanks for their promotion and logistical support for our fun and fascinating April 26 day trip to visit the Grand Lodge of Philadelphia, Independence Hall and Reading Terminal Market. In addition to beholding one of the most amazing structures of Masonic artistry and craftsmanship in America, our Sharon Lodge group bonded in fellowship with the representatives from the Corinthian, Ionic and Amicable-St John’s Lodge communities through the rain and the shredded bus tire that delayed our return. What a memorable trip!

The month ahead will feature a visit to our Pennsylvania Masonic partner, Harrisburg-Snyder Lodge on May 6. Sharon Brethren will caravan to Harrisburg. Please join us for this annual sojourn. Throughout May, Sharon Lodge line officers will be engaged in practices to prepare for Bro Andrew Macomber’s Fellowcraft Exemplification on June 5th. Finally, Sharon Lodge brethren, family and friends will caravan for a day trip tour of the historic monuments in Gettysburg on May 24th.

Sincerely and fraternally,

David C. Weeks

Worshipful Master Sharon Lodge #182
